Parks and Recreation and Culture Committee

Truro Parks and Recreation and Culture Committee meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Carter Room, Civic Building, 695 Prince St. For further information please contact the Recreation Department at 893-6078.

The Truro Parks & Recreation Commission, established by provincial legislation in 1972, has provided recreational services to the Town for 29 years. As a result of the Municipal Government Act, which has eliminated most Commissions, the assets of the Truro Parks & Recreation Commission have been vested in the Town of Truro and the Commission's duties are now being carried out by the Parks & Recreation Committee.

The purpose of the Parks & Recreation & Culture Committee is to operate, maintain, and manage recreation facilities and properties in the Town of Truro, such as arenas, community centers, parks and playgrounds. The Committee's goal is to develop new recreational opportunities for the residents of Truro.

Currently, the Department employs twelve full time staff, ten seasonal staff, and numerous part-time positions.
