Truro is a medium size town with a population approximately 11, 000 The town has many Historical buildings, as well as new growth. There are a few new schools being completed this year, and a new hospital to be completed in the near future. There has been a beautiful transformation to the downtown core of Inglis Street, and Truro has welcomed many new businesses over the past few years.

There are many annual community events, and several organizations set in place to help the community prosper. There are many Parks and Recreational facilities in Truro. The town has an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, and an indoor Stadium (ice rink). Victoria Park is a beautiful forest area with walking trails, waterfalls, and picnic areas. The Park also features an outdoor pool, tennis courts, and a children's playground with a water park.

The Town of Truro has a significant and distinctive collection of 19th and early 20th century buildings depicting victorian and vernacular architecture. The town recognizes the importance of preserving its local character and culture, built heritage and sense of place among its top priorities.
