School Resource Officer

The Truro Police Service School Resource Officers are assigned on a full time basis to area schools.  The School Resource Officers work with students, staff, parents and the community to identify and address School related issues.  The role of the School Resource Officers is to provide a safe and secure learning environment for both students and staff.  The School Resource Officers also act as  a resource to students, staff and parents through counselling, classroom lectures and through the distribution of resource material. 

 

The School Resource Officers work to build stronger relationships and rapport with the youth, community and police.  Having a visible presence in our schools is a pro-active approach to reduce violence, bullying, drugs and other criminal activiities.

 

Constable Karen DeGroot is currently assigned to the Cobequid Educational Centre (Senior High School).

 

Constable Jon Keddy is currently assigned to the Truro Junior High School and the Towns' elementary schools.
